Achieving Sixth Place, Polstat STIS Achieves Highest Achievement Since 2014 in the OPTK Event

Meraih Peringkat Enam, Polstat STIS Mengukir Prestasi Tertinggi Sejak 2014 pada Ajang OPTK

The 2020 State College Olympiad (OPTK) has begun. As one of the State Colleges (PTK), Polstat STIS contributed to the 2020 OPTK by sending a total of 99 athletes to compete in 18 competitions. Taking place over four days, starting on March 5, 2020, the 2020 OPTK was successfully held at the Indonesian Aviation Polytechnic (PPI) in Curug, the host city. Despite limited preparation due to a conflict with the midterm exam (UTS), the Polstat STIS contingent proved its mettle by placing sixth. The Polstat STIS contingent took home a total of eight medals: five gold medals and three bronze medals. The 2020 OPTK attracted 2,500 participants from 31 PTKs across Indonesia. On Thursday (March 5), the Polstat STIS contingent held a farewell ceremony at the Polstat STIS Auditorium. Furthermore, on the same day, the Men's A class silat contingent competed and succeeded in defeating the Yogyakarta Magelang Agricultural Development Polytechnic (Polbangtan Yo-Ma) to enter the one-eighth final. On the second day of the OPTK implementation, the 2020 OPTK Opening Ceremony was held, attended by representatives from 31 PTK contingents. The series of events was attended by the Head of the Transportation Human Resources Development Agency. In addition to the Opening Ceremony, on the second day many competitions were competed. The Polstat STIS contingent competed in Women's Volleyball, Men's Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Silat, Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI), Table Tennis, Taekwondo, English Debate, Story Telling, and Speech. The match was exciting and tense. Not in vain, the Polstat STIS contingent managed to win its first gold medal from the Women's Singles Poomsae Taekwondo competition for Aininda Rahma Mas. The Polstat STIS contingent harvested medals on the third day of OPTK by adding three gold and three bronze medals. On the third day, gold medals were won by the Speech branch on behalf of Billy Aufa Alfarisy, the E-Journal branch on behalf of Ari Rismansyah, and the Women's +68 kg Karate branch on behalf of Putri Dhinda Berliana. Meanwhile, bronze medals were won by the Men's Singles Table Tennis branch on behalf of Dwi Ardian, the Women's Singles Kata Karate branch on behalf of Putri Dhinda Berliana, and the Men's Singles Chess branch on behalf of I Kadek Wijayantara. Other branches on the third day were: Silat, Futsal, LKTI, E-Journal, Scrabble, and English Debate. In addition to the competition, on the third day a friendly gathering of student leaders from various PTK was held. Polstat STIS was represented by Alha Ahmada Belasae as Chair of the Student Senate for the 2019/2020 period. On the third day, Polstat STIS topped the medal standings for the 2020 OPTK.

The fourth and final day of the 2020 OPTK was a truly memorable one. On Sunday, March 8, 2020, the Closing Ceremony concluded the 2020 OPTK. On this final day, Polstat STIS continued to add to its medal tally. The final gold medal, which was won by Novitra Saputra, Awkilla Bhakti Sitindaon, and I Kadek Wijayantara in the team chess event, was won.

The 2020 OPTK was a unique and special event for Polstat STIS, as this year, Polstat STIS achieved sixth place, their best ranking in recent years. Ranked first through fifth, respectively, were the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN), the Correctional Sciences Polytechnic (Poltekip), the State Finance Polytechnic of STAN (PKN-STAN), the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) of Curug, and the Immigration Polytechnic (Poltekim). The good achievements achieved by Polstat STIS in the 2020 OPTK marked the beginning of the revival of Polstat STIS in the OPTK event, so that in the coming years the achievements of the Polstat STIS contingent can continue to be improved.
