As a first step to ignite enthusiasm, the Student Executive Board successfully held the Opening Ceremony of the Sports, Arts, and Statistics Parade (Paradoks) on Saturday (January 27) at the Auditorium of Politeknik Statistika STIS. Carrying the theme “Discover Your Hidden Treasure Throughout the Adventure,” Muh Nur Afrizal, as the Chief Organizer of Paradoks 2024, expressed his hope that this event could serve as a momentum for students to discover their hidden potentials and talents.

Fully supported by all parties, the event was attended by Mr. Wahyudin, S.Si., M.A.P., M.P.P. as the Head of Student Activity Units, Heads of Student Organizations, as well as competition participants and student representatives from Politeknik Statistika STIS. A series of activities under Paradoks 2024 was officially launched symbolically by the Vice Director III for Student Affairs, Mr. Yunarso Anang, Ph.D. “Being smart alone is not enough; students also need to have an artistic soul. This event is very appropriate for enhancing student talents amidst academic activities,” Mr. Yunarso conveyed in his opening remarks.

Paradoks 2024 featured four main events: the Politeknik Statistika STIS Olympiad (Olistis), the Student Arts Appreciation (Presisi), Edufest, and the PMKL x Kastrat Seminar. Olistis included nine sports branches and attracted a total of 490 student participants. Presisi showcased a dance and singing competition with 41 participants. Edufest held eleven competition categories with a total of 313 student participants. Additionally, Paradoks 2024 also presented a collaborative seminar between the Community Service and Environmental Awareness Unit (PMKL) and the Strategic Studies Bureau (Kastrat) of the Student Executive Board, raising the theme “Quarter Life Crisis.” Afrizal extended his gratitude to all students who took part in enlivening Paradoks 2024.

The President of the Student Executive Board, Ghozali Yahya, also expressed his hope that participants and winners of Paradoks activities would continue their achievements at the national level through PIPTK, OPTK, or other competitions. Before concluding the event with a group photo session, the participants and students recited the athlete and participant pledge, committing to uphold sportsmanship throughout the activities. It is hoped that this event not only fosters competition to be the best but also allows students to cherish every step of their journey toward excellence. The event concluded with a performance from the X-Bar Student Activity Unit (UKM X-Bar).
