Polstat STIS menuju Kampus Terbuka (OpeN CAMPus)

To realize the vision of Polstat STIS, particularly its role in the National Statistics System, and to implement the "Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka" (Freedom to Learn, Independent Campus) concept initiated by the Minister of Education and Culture, Polstat STIS has implemented several changes and reoriented its implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

The high demand for Polstat STIS graduates from Ministries/Institutions and Regional Government Organizations (APOs) creates opportunities for Polstat STIS to play a role in the development of Sectoral Statistics, an element of the National Statistics System, in addition to Basic Statistics administered by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The competency and skills required for applied statisticians in Ministries and Institutions administering Sectoral Statistics are certainly slightly different from the current competency requirements of Polstat STIS graduates, which are more oriented towards the needs of the Statistics Indonesia (BPS).

Of course, on the other hand, within the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka concept, the provision in Permendikbud No. 3 of 2020, which grants students the right to study outside their study program or at another university for a maximum of two semesters, also requires Polstat STIS to reorient its curriculum and develop collaborative research and community service.

Thus, several activities have begun to be implemented that will ultimately make the Polstat STIS campus more open and adaptive to the needs of graduate users and the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar/Independent Campus concept.

Activities undertaken in the initial stages of the curriculum reorientation include conducting focus group discussions (FGDs) with the Data and Information Centers of Ministries/Institutions, internalizing the Merdeka Kampus Merdeka Belajar concept within the academic community, and holding meetings and discussions with the Statistics Higher Education Providers Forum (FORSTAT).
