Students at a civil service college (STIS) are required to possess strong discipline and leadership skills. This is in line with the efforts of the Politeknik Statistika (Polstat) STIS, which holds various leadership development activities for its students. Recently, three activities related to discipline and leadership were held by the Student Senate (Sema), the Disciplinary Enforcement Unit (SPD), and the Statistics Battalion Student Regiment (Menwa).

The first activity, the Intermediate Basic Leadership Training (LDK), was held from Friday (November 31) to Sunday (December 2). The event, held at the Engineering Education Center (Pusdikzi) in Bogor, was attended by 45 students, consisting of members of the Student Representative Council (DPM), Sema administrators, heads of Student Activity Units (UKM) and UKM Divisions, and independent participants. During the program, the LDK participants were exposed to various leadership and teamwork development activities, such as marching exercises, physical training, night caraka, and outbound activities. Furthermore, they were also provided with various materials on leadership, communication, and problem-solving management. The material was summarized into seven public lectures delivered by lecturers from Polstat STIS and military instructors from Pusdikzi. According to Muhammad Qadri, one of the LDK participants, this activity was very beneficial for the students. In addition to gaining leadership knowledge, the participants also gained firsthand experience being trained by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

In line with the Intermediate LDK activities, a second activity, the SPD training, was also held to improve students' discipline and leadership skills. The difference was that this activity was exclusively for SPD members from the 60th batch and specifically aimed at improving their quality as role models for discipline, in terms of norms, mentality, time management, and uniform wear. The activity, which also took place concurrently with the LDK, took place at the 505th Education Squadron, Wingdikum Halim Perdanakusuma. Similarly, this training also included a series of discipline and leadership development activities, such as Marching Regulations (PBB), Instructional Instructions (CMI), and disciplinary materials covering the Polstat STIS student code of ethics, national insight, protocol, and internal SPD material.

The third activity was Menwa's annual Basic Menwa Education. Similar to the LDK activity, this one was held at the 505th Education Squadron, Halim Perdanakusuma Military Education Wing, but lasted longer, from Wednesday (November 29) to Tuesday (December 4). Basic Menwa Education, better known as Diksar Menwa, is a mandatory training for prospective members of the Statistics Battalion Menwa before being officially inaugurated. The series of activities included PBB training, survival training, outbound activities, mountaineering, and alarm stealing to assess the alertness and readiness of prospective members of the twelfth Menwa. Presenters at this event included members of the Statistics Battalion Menwa Basic Training Task Force, the Jayakarta Menwa Commander, and trainers from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

"Developing leadership skills is crucial because, in essence, all humans are born to be leaders. By participating in training like this, a person will be prepared and trained whenever they are entrusted with leadership," said Ahmad Arif Firmansyah, a member of the Statistics Battalion Menwa.
