Inauguration of LSP Politeknik Statistika STIS: A Step Forward in Improving the Professional Competency Standards of STIS Statistics Polytechnic Students

In an effort to enhance the quality of graduates from Politeknik Statistika STIS and meet nationally and internationally recognized competency standards, the institution officially inaugurated its Professional Certification Body (Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi or LSP) on Friday, April 19, at the Polstat STIS Auditorium in Jakarta. The LSP of Politeknik Statistika STIS is responsible for testing, assessing, and certifying students who meet the national competency standards in specific professional fields, in accordance with the guidelines set by the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP). In implementing this system, the LSP adheres to the legal framework of the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI).

This LSP was established to ensure that students' competencies are recognized both nationally and internationally. Founded on September 6, 2021, through a Director’s Decree and having gone through 16 stages to obtain its license, the LSP of Polstat STIS officially received its License Decree from BNSP on February 13, 2024. The license includes two competency certification schemes:

  • Data Scientist for D-IV program students, and
  • Associate Data Scientist for D-III program students.

To carry out its duties of testing, assessing, and certifying, 20 lecturers at Politeknik Statistika STIS have obtained BNSP certification as competency assessors, and 27 lecturers have been certified as either data scientists or associate data scientists by BNSP. All certification schemes are based on the Data Science SKKNI and the Occupational Map for Data Science issued by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo).

With the inauguration of the LSP of Politeknik Statistika STIS, Indonesia further strengthens its professional certification infrastructure. This institution is expected to serve as a catalyst in creating a competent and professional workforce, contributing significantly to the quality and quantity of certified professionals in the fields of Statistics and Data Science.

This inauguration marks not only a historic milestone but also a symbol of Politeknik Statistika STIS’s commitment to building a brighter future through the development of high-quality human resources. Moving forward, the institution also hopes to expand its certification schemes in line with graduate profiles, such as certification for Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and more.
