On Friday (17/02), the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Dr. Margo Yuwono, S.Si., M.Si., officially inaugurated Prof. Dr. Hardius Usman, S.Si., M.Si. as Professor of Management Science at the STIS Statistics Polytechnic. This event took place in the auditorium of the STIS Statistics Polytechnic and was attended by the Deputy Director of Yarsi University, the Deputy for Population Affairs of the BKKBN, the Chancellor of President University, the Deputy for Population Culture, the Chair of the Student Senate of the University of Indonesia, Professors from several universities, Primary High Leaders within the Central Statistics Agency, Leaders of Civil Service Universities, families of professors, and invited guests from various agencies.

Welcoming this momentum, Dr. Erni Tri Astuti, M.Math., congratulated and expressed her appreciation for Prof. Hardius Usman's achievements. She stated that reaching this point required a long and challenging journey, leading to the issuance of the Decree appointing Prof. Dr. Hardius Usman, S.Si., M.Si., as a professor on January 3, 2023. She also thanked all parties for the guidance and direction they provided.

As a Professor, Prof. Dr. Hardius Usman, S.Si., M.Si., has achieved many achievements, both in academic and non-academic fields. In addition to serving as Deputy Director II of the STIS Statistics Polytechnic and filling his daily activities as a lecturer, he is also active in writing activities. Some of the books he has successfully published are 11 textbooks, 8 reference books, and 3 novels. He is also a reviewer in reputable journals at home and abroad. His writings have also been published in reputable international journals, accredited national journals, national and international proceedings, books, and newspapers.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Hardius Usman, S.Si., M.Si. also delivered a scientific oration entitled "Poverty Alleviation from a Marketing Management Perspective Based on Official Statistics". From the oration, he stated that poverty alleviation programs still do not pay attention to the HDI of the poor and also the existing business system does not support the businesses of the poor. "The persistence of poverty is not only due to the low number of poor people who work, but also because of low wages," he said. Therefore, it is hoped that there will be a special mechanism and a comprehensive program so that the poor can enjoy the programs presented.

He emphasized the question, “How can building statistical governance for scattered data meet the needs of official statistics?” He emphasized the importance of adaptive thinking skills for the creation of innovation and creativity in data management and data production, which he hopes can become a decision-making tool, both for the Central Statistics Agency and the Indonesian nation. “The best of our work is that which is able to provide input on major problems,” he added.
