Description :The fourth installment of the Statistika Webinar Series hosted by Politeknik Statistika STIS carried the theme
“Introduction to Bayesian Statistics” and was held virtually on Friday, October 29. Moderated by Ika Yuni Wulansari, S.S.T., M.Stat., the webinar featured three speakers: Dr. Achmad Syahrul Choir opened the session by presenting the fundamentals of the Bayesian approach, including the concepts of prior, likelihood, and posterior distributions, a comparison with the frequentist approach, and an introduction to software such as BUGS, Stan, and PYMC3. Dr. Rindang Bangun Prasetyo continued with the application of Bayesian models using WinBUGS and JAGS through R, elaborating on modeling steps and highlighting the strengths of each software tool. The final session, delivered by Dr. Azka Ubaidillah, focused on the use of Bayesian modeling in Small Area Estimation (SAE). He emphasized the advantages of Bayesian methods in handling non-normal distributions and introduced SAE packages developed by the Polstat STIS academic community. The webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, met with enthusiastic participation from attendees across diverse backgrounds.
