Comparative Study of PKN STAN Information Technology Team

To develop its information system, the PKN STAN Information Technology (IT) Team conducted a comparative study at the Politeknik Statistika (Polstat) STIS (October 30th). Irwan Suliantoro, SE, MTI, head of the PKN STAN IT delegation, stated that PKN STAN is currently in the process of developing its own information system, particularly for lectures and other supporting units. This is to mitigate the risk of data confidentiality being compromised when information system development is outsourced to third parties.
Dr. Yunarso Anang Sulistiadi, M.Eng., Head of the Polstat STIS IT Unit, explained several information systems, including lectures, journals, libraries, and student achievement and violation records, most of which were developed based on theses by Polstat STIS Statistical Computing students. Bambang Nurcahyo, MM (Head of General Administration) Polstat STIS, added that the information system was initially developed to address complex issues such as the complexity of scheduling lectures amidst the increasing number of students year after year, but with limited classroom space. Some pros and cons were also encountered regarding the implementation of the new system, namely the handkey attendance system for lecturers and students. However, over time and with continuous system development, this information system now provides significant benefits for the entire academic community.
During their visit, the PKN STAN IT Team also took the opportunity to directly observe one of the information systems developed for lectures, the Integrated Information System (SIPADU). This system organizes and displays classes currently attending a session, complete with course, classroom, and lecturer identification. Continuous development will be carried out to integrate all units within Polstat STIS. It is a source of pride that these three Polstat STIS student innovations have benefited their institution and inspired other institutions, such as PKN STAN.
