Students from the Politeknik Statistika STIS have once again achieved a non-academic achievement. This time, the bridge team, consisting of Rahmat Putra (3SE4), Ahmad Rizal Hadi (3SK4), Candra Dian Purnawanto (3KS2), and Ziko Mildudandy Rahim (2D32), won first place in the Airlangga Cup VII Bridge Tournament, Youngster Team Category, held at Airlangga University, Surabaya, on April 27-28. The Student Bridge Activity Unit (UKM) sent two teams of four members to the two-day tournament. Their preparation included regular practice during free time, such as holidays. They were also coached by STIS alumni from classes 49, 56, and 57. The BPS Bridge Club also facilitated monthly bridge practice through mobile phone competitions. The schedule for lectures and bridge practice was well-organized, with the students creating a practice schedule a month in advance to avoid overlap between lectures and competition preparation. However, they still prioritize their studies. "We have to be smart about managing our time and maximize it to become champions," said Rahmat. According to Ahmad, being a student requires setting the highest possible goals. These goals must be pursued seriously, with maximum effort, and most importantly, consistently. He believes that with maximum effort, any set goal will be achieved. Rahmat admitted that he only started studying bridge in college. Before that, he had absolutely no knowledge of the field. He said that becoming a champion was far from his expectations. However, with hard work and practice, he was able to achieve it. "If someone takes one step, we must be able to take five steps. We must keep up with others so we don't stop there and fall behind," Rahmat concluded the interview. Congratulations to the Bridge Team on their achievement!
